Age & Responsible Drinking Policy — 100 Million Beers / The World Race

In plain words: you must be 18 or older, AND old enough to legally drink beer where you are (21 in the US), to use the Service at all. In countries where alcohol is prohibited, the Service is closed. We count beers; we never push anyone to drink one — there's a daily cap, no streaks, and no individual leaderboards, and sobriety support resources are below.

1. The age rule

To use the Service in any way you must be:

at least 18 years old, AND at or above the legal age for beer consumption in the place where you are — whichever is higher.

• The floor is 18 everywhere, even in countries whose local beer age is 16 or 17. (Policy decision 2026-07-31: this removes any lawful under-18 use and with it all child-data law exposure.)
• There is no spectator, cheer-only, or any other under-age tier.
• You confirm your age on first use (app and website); the confirmation is recorded. Misrepresenting your age violates the Terms of Service and leads to removal.

2. The age table

The gate age everywhere is 18, or the local legal age where that is higher:

Where the Service is unavailable (alcohol is prohibited or severely restricted): Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Afghanistan, Iran, Mauritania, Brunei, Pakistan, Maldives.

How the gate works: your country is detected from your connection each time; visitors from unavailable countries see a respectful closed door; answering "No" to the age question is accepted gracefully, with no penalty and no retry pressure.

(This table went live in the product on 2026-08-01: the seven 16+ entries raised to 18, Qatar added at 21, Pakistan and the Maldives added to the unavailable list.)

3. Attestation language (the gate's copy)

A question before you enter. The registry counts beers, so the law has a question: are you at least [AGE] years old — the legal drinking age where you are — and at least 18? [ YES, I AM ] · [ NO ] (On NO): The ledger will wait.

The acceptance is stored with date and detected country (see Privacy Policy §1).

4. Responsible drinking: our position and our design

The Service is a collective counting event. We do not encourage anyone to drink, and the product is deliberately built so it cannot become a pressure to drink:

• A daily cap (~8) with a hard, warm stop: "The world believes you. Rest up — the race resumes tomorrow."
• No streaks, ever. Nothing rewards drinking on consecutive days.
• No individual consumption rankings, ever. No one can "win" by drinking more; only collectives (countries, cities, teams) are ranked.
• Personal counts never appear publicly — not on share cards, not anywhere.
• Participation is always free, and skipping days costs nothing.

Drink responsibly. Never drive after drinking. Don't drink if pregnant, on interacting medication, or advised not to by a doctor.
